Hi Everyone.Lakme has been rolling out a bunch of new products for a while now.Their latest range is called “Lakme Absolute Skin Gloss” which consists of :
- Lakme Absolute Skin Gloss Gel Creme
- Lakme Absolute Skin Gloss Reflection Serum
- Lakme Absolute Skin Gloss Overnight Mask
Today I will be reviewing Gel creme from that range. It has sure generated a lot of hype, but does it leave up to its claims!Read along to find out more about it!
My Skin Type:
Oily and acne prone skin.
Ingredients:Water, Dimethicone, Alcohol.Denat, Glycerin, Butylene glycol, Ammonium acrloydimethyitaurate/VO Copolymer ,Lineoleamidopropyl PG-Dimonium Chloride Phosphate, Tocopheryl Acetate, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Ammonium acrloydimethyltaurate/Bheneth-25 Methacrylate Crosspolymer,Perfume,Disodium EDTA,Sodium PCA,Palmitic acid,Stearic acid,BHT,Triethanolamine,Mentha Piperita(Peppermint)Leaf Extract,Glacial water,Caarbomer,Polysorbate 20,Palmitoyl Oligopeptide, Palmitoyl Tetrapeptide-7, Chondrus Crispus (Carrageenan), Phenoxyethanol,Chlorphenesin,Propylene Glycol,Citric acid, Sodium Dehydroacetate, DMDM Hydratoin and Iodopropnyl Butyl Carbamate,Alpha-Isomethyl Ionone,Benzyl Salicylate,Citral,Citronellol,EugenolmHydroxycitronella,Limonene,Linalool,Linalyl Acetate,Ci 42090,Ci 74160Alcohol Denat 5% w/w denatured with Diethyl Phthalate.
Pro’s:1)It is a oil-free moisturiser.2)Gel based product.3)It is absorbs instantly and leaves behind cooling sensation because of menthol.4)It does not make face greasy.5)After application, gives a bit of dewy effect for a while.6)It is suitable for normal skin.7)It has a very small hint of salicylic acid and sea weed extracts.8)Surprisingly paraben-free.
Con’s:1)It is comedogenic. So not suitable for oily and acne prone skin.2)Expensive.3)It is not moisturising enough for dry skin.4)No skin gloss effect as company claims.5)Tub packaging is unhygienic.6)Some may not prefer the fragrance. It is way too strong and overpowering.7)No SPF or another ingredients which can benefit the skin.8)It claims to contain glacial water with minerals which is almost at the end of the list so I highly doubt its composition.I guess Lakme was trying to follow Avene and Vichy since their products contain Thermal Spring water.9)Loaded with chemicals, artificial preservatives.
Directions for use:Dot a little quantity of gel all over face and massage it.
Availability:Lakme products are easily available in all supermarkets and beauty outlets.1)To buy on Nykaa, click here.2)To buy on Flipkart, click here.
Final Verdict:I bought Lakme Skin Gloss Gel creme after I had success with Lakme Mattifying Sunscreen. When it first arrived I saw the ingredient list and saw moderately comedogenic ingredients,so was disappointed there itself.Still went ahead to give it a try since it is a gel base ,though it did not break me out, it is a okay-okay moisturiser.Nothing special about this moisturiser, I did not like it much.Aloe veda aloe vera gel does more than this product at a fraction of a cost!I am not impressed and I will not buy again. Its a shame because it would have made a good moisturiser for oily skin if it was non-comedogenic.This seems like close replica of Loreal Hydrafresh Anti-Shine Icy Gel which I will review shortly. This range has another 2 products Gel Overnight Mask and Serum which I am not going to buy since this was a dud.Overall nothing impressive of this particular product.
